Gianfranco Frattini for Bernini
Gianfranco Frattini, born 1926 in Padua. Graduated in architecture from the Polytechnic University of Milan in 1953. After his studies he started working in Gio Ponti’s studio. When he had gained the necessary experience here, he opened his own design studio in Milan.
Frattini mainly focused on interior and industrial design, he was particularly seen as an expert in the field of traditional wood craftsmanship. Over the years, many collaborations emerged with manufacturers such as Arteluce, Artemide, Bernini, Cassina, Knoll and many others. With his leading designs, Frattini became an important personality in the international design discipline. He achieved great prestige as, among other things, co-founder of ADI in Milan and part of the management team of the world-famous Triennale di Milano Museum. In addition, he won many prizes, including the prestigious Compasso d’Oro.
The desk that we offer in our auction with lot number 8280 was made for Bernini Italy, designed in 1957. This version in the difficult-to-work rosewood shows the wood craftsmanship for which it was rightly praised.
