Highlights from the Classical Paintings Sale
This auction we have a large selection of classical paintings, mainly 17th and 18th century. The number of portraits is noteworthy, including an early boy’s portrait, Dutch school (lot number 6410), a lady’s portrait by Ludolf de Jongh, dated 1656 (lot number 6437) and a portrait of Maria Anna, princess of Saxony (lot number 6417).
From the private collection of a Dordrecht industrialist, collected in the first half of the 20th century, come some interesting works from the Dutch school of the 17th and early 18th century, such as a seascape (lot number 6401), a representation of fighting farmers (lot number 6403) and a landscape with animals near Noah’s Ark (lot number 6428).
Several interesting paintings from the 19th and early 20th century come from various private collections, such as a capital work by Jozef Israƫls (lot number 6441), a lively view of the Damrak by Jacob Oudes (lot number 6455), an interior by Karl Broge (lot number 6475) and a portrait by Herbert Schmalz (lot number 6468).
