When the music is over, the collection begins
For fans of The Doors, this auction is a journey through time. The collection originates from Rainer Moddemann, founder of the leading German fan club and a man who maintained close contact with the band members for many years. His relationship with Robby Krieger was particularly close, but he also had warm relations in the early years with John Densmore and Ray Manzarek. Thanks to these special connections, many of the objects in the auction are personally signed.
Following Moddemann’s passing last year, his impressive archive was transferred to a well-known Belgian fan, who has continued to maintain both the website and the legacy with dedication. What once began as a passion grew into a unique collection that is now— for the first time—being made available through an auction to collectors and enthusiasts worldwide.
Among the highlights are rare gold and platinum records, as well as a striking collection of psychedelic concert posters from the late 1960s. These posters are not only visually iconic but also artistically significant, thanks to designers such as Victor Moscoso, Wes Wilson, and Rick Griffin.
And as if that were not enough, the collection also includes a true crown jewel: a signed photograph of Jim Morrison himself—a tangible reminder of one of the most legendary frontmen in rock history.
A collection like this tells not only the story of a band, but also of the people who have kept their music alive across generations—and now offers a rare opportunity to become part of that legacy.
