Striking jewelry from a striking woman

The doctor’s house was a well known place for many residents of the southern Dutch village of Poeldijk. Doctor Jan ter Haar (1902), received patients at home, cycled through the village with a cigar for visits, made his own medicine and gave birth to new villagers day and night. His wife Jeannette (1905) was a striking figure, who organized the practice, replenished the pharmacy and was involved in social village life.

Son Kees (1933) has completely maintained the parental home and intended the legacy for the Red Cross. After his death, many historical and beautiful items emerged, including a beautiful jewelry collection. Highlights from this collection include an impressive 19th-century ‘spray brooch’ with enameled flowers (lot number 22), a Belle Epoque lavaliere necklace set with diamonds (lot number 95), a platinum Art Deco bracelet set with diamonds and sapphire (lot number 93), with matching ring (lot number 94) and a cocktail watch set with ruby ​​and diamonds (lot number 527).
