Willem Hoogendijk Collection

Collector Willem Hoogendijk (1932-2023) had a hereditary burden, as he always said. His father was a renowned dealer in old paintings on the Keizersgracht in Amsterdam. Willem learned to look at paintings from him. Willem Hoogendijk himself did not become an art dealer, but as a collector he has built up an extensive collection of art in recent decades. We are auctioning a large number of works from this collection by both renowned artists and relatively unknown artists. The collection includes early paintings by Bram van Velde (lot number 6504, see image on the right), a French landscape by Lodewijk Schelfhout (lot number 6462) and works by Willem van Konijnenburg, Adriaan van ‘t Hoff and Jan Sluijters, among others. Furthermore, a striking number of works by Friso ten Holt and his father Henri Friso ten Holt (including lot numbers 6849 and 6856).
